Kit Cloudkicker is an orphan boy who is a former member of the Air Pirates, whom he got sick of and ran away from. Kit ran into Baloo while on the run from the Air Pirate, Baloo, who runs an air service, took Kit in as a navigator. Then Baloo lost his business when the bank sold his business and his beloved plane to a business lady named Rebecca Cunningham who has a little girl with her, her daughter, Molly. Rebecca then hires Baloo as her pilot and Kit as her navigator. She sometimes hires Kit as a babysitter and he plays with Molly.
They act like a family, but they have no relation to each other. Baloo and Kit has a father-son bond, Rebecca is sometimes motherly to Kit, but he's not her son. Kit and Molly are surrogate siblings but are not related. Wildcat, the mechanic, fills the role of the fun, crazy uncle. The whole crew is a surrogate family, no relation except for Rebecca and Molly and no formal adoption of Kit.
