I never thought I ever have a drawing of this character to show you guys, but here she is. One of the oldest JinxToons characters to exist. She also one of the very few rare characters created by Andrew Hutchison or "Hutch" as he often called himself.

Peanut is a female jester who first appeared in a comic strip called "Jokers".  In 1913 Bud Crabb had met newspaper cartoonist "Hutch" and wanted to go into business with him making newspaper comics. Since Hutch had already made a few comics of his own "Major Sunshine and Colonel Grouch", And ''Mrs. Economy".

They created Jokers which starred Peanut. However no newspapers ever bought the comic and the comics were never release. Because of these I know next to nothing on what the comic was about.

All I know is that despite no newspapers wanting the strip Bud still used the character as well as the name of the comic. Peanut was used until 1917 when Bud Crabb was drafted during world war 1. Peanut then again made a come back in 1932 when Bud had begun working with Ralph Welsh.

Apparently she made some appearances until world war 2. She then made some of her final appearances in the 1960s when my friend Dick Huemer. drew her until the 1970s.

I've always knew about the character and I have seen the few drawings of her by Dick. But, it wasn't until when Dick had showed this drawing of her by Bud Crabb, that made want to bring her back. This 1914 drawing of Peanut may very well be the only surviving drawing of her during that period.

During the late 90s and early 2000s Dick had made made many digital scans on some of the early comics and artwork of the JinxToons. This may have been one of his oldest.

The drawing seems to have not part of a comic but rater a social commentary on the fact that Peanut is not good enough for newspapers.

So I decided to remake that very drawing. But this time in color.

It seems a little surreal to think when Bud and Hutch created this character using pen and ink over 100 years ago. Little did they know that 100 years later a pervert would draw their creation using digital technology.

By the way I don't what her colors are yet, since she was rarely drawn in color. I do know she was a always a redhead.
